Jyo Supnekar OTR/L, CHT, CLT
Jyo Supnekar graduated with a Masters in Occupational Therapy from the University of Bombay in 1986. She moved to the United States with her husband in 1988 and has worked as an Occupational Therapist for over 28 years.
She lived in New Jersey for 21 years before moving to Maryland in 2011 and has numerous years of experience in Outpatient Rehabilitation. Jyo completed the Neuro developmental Treatment Training for Adult Hemiplegia (Bobath Concept) in 1993 and worked in Acute Rehabilitation. Since 1997 she has worked primarily with Orthopedic Outpatient population. She completed her Hand Certification through the Hand Therapy Certification Commission in 1998 and worked as a Senior Therapist and as a Clinical Specialist for numerous years.
She has worked at a Trauma Hospital, at a Wellness Center and has worked closely with Hand, Orthopedic and Plastic Surgeons. She has extensive experience in treatment of Upper Extremity conditions including trauma, complex Fractures, hand injuries, splinting, crush injuries, tendon and nerve injuries, cumulative trauma disorders, repetitive stress disorders and all conditions affecting the upper extremity. She completed Lymphedema Training with the Klose Norton School of Lymphedema Therapy in 2003 and has since worked with lymphedema and cancer care.
Jyo joined Johns Hopkins in 2011 and is a Clinical Specialist working at their Outpatient Rehabilitation Clinics. She is working on the development of a Hand Residency Program and is on the faculty of the Johns Hopkins Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency Program. She enjoys being a clinician and strives towards evidence based practice and excellence in care.
